Akron Plane Crash, Man Saved: Hot Pockets Saves Life

A few days ago, a horrific plane crash occured in Ohio. Specifically, Akron, Ohio. A business jet crashed into an apartment building killing every passenger on board the plane. Amidst this sad news there is some luck to celebrate since no one was inside the building at the time the crash happened. Jason Bartley says Hot Pockets saved his life.

The 38 year old thanks sandwiches. He would have been inside the building when the accident happened. He was inside his apartment 39 minutes before the crash until he decided to leave to go run some errands. In an interview with the Akron Beacon Journal, he claims he needed to go to the bank and then decided to make a pit stop and pick up some Hot Pockets for dinner and breakfast. The food transaction at Dollar General delayed him just in time because, as he was driving up to his building, the infrastructure was up in flames. He even thought that he left an appliance on and that caused the fire. "My apartment was the one that took the direct force hit," he said.

"Really, I guess it was dumb luck", he told NBC. He feels lucky to be alive right now even though all of his things have been lost in the fire. "All I have is my car and the outfit I was wearing."

Another person who was luckily not in the crash was a neighbor of Bartley's. She is usually home during the day but happened to be out, taking her dog to the pet store.

One of his friends even set up a fund page to help him get back on his feet. The fund will help Bartley since he had no renter's insurance. The money will go to replacing his home furnishings, clothing and other necessities.
