Joan Rivers Slams Lena Dunham's Weight; Accuses 'Girls' Actress of Promoting Obesity

No one ever thought Joan Rivers was a nice person, but the TV host reportedly went too far by slamming actress Lena Dunham during an interview with Howard Stern this week.

According to USA Today, the outspoken 80-year-old comedian attacked the "Girls" creator and star's weight and fashion sense. The rant began when Rivers asked Stern: "Let me ask you something: Lena Dunham - who I think is, again, terrific - how could she wear dresses above the knee?"

"I think the thing we love about her is she doesn't give a s--t," Stern replied, defending the actress, despite their previous altercations. "Do you watch Girls? Do you watch when she's naked on there? She did a whole episode in a bikini, it was the funniest f--king thing I've ever seen."

However, Rivers disagreed with both Stern and his co-anchor Robin Quivers. The "Fashion Police" host said that Dunham was sending the wrong message to viewers about self-acceptance.

"But that's wrong," Rivers replied. "You're sending a message out to people saying, 'It's okay, stay fat. Get diabetes it's okay. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.'"

Dunham was recently featured in a close-up shot cover of Vogue magazine, where she was photoshopped to look thinner in several pictures. The magazine recently re-released the unaltered picture.

"She was on Vogue's cover looking gorgeous, you didn't even know it was her," Rivers said.

Stern defended Dunham and said that she is simply funny and does not believe she is trying to make a statement with her body. Stern added that not every woman is like Rivers and pays so much attention to appearances.

In the end, Rivers admitted, "I love that she's funny, I love that she did well...but don't let them laugh at you physically...If you look the way you look, Lena, and that's fine and you're funny, don't say it's OK that other girls can look like this. Try to look better."
