Vegan Ice Cream by Ben and Jerry's in 2016

It is not necessarily common for an ice cream brand to meddle with issues within its surrounding. For some, as long as they make good money out of their product, then they consider themselves to be on the right track. However, this does not say the same for Ben and Jerry's.

This 37-year-old company has always been known to have great concern for the environment and the society. They have been known as the first company to remove growth hormones from their dairy products in 1989. In 2001, they were also the first company to use eco-friendly containers made from unbleached cardboard. And in 2005, they marched in front of the U.S. Capitol building with a 900 pound baked Alaska, to protest about the Congress' decision to drill in the Arctic.

Many people find what the company is doing both for the society and the environment equally amazing.  So many of them cannot seem to contain their excitement when the "Save our Swirled" light of ice cream was released. We are highly anticipating that the company would later on launch sustainable, dairy-free products.

However, the brand only plans to use the label to increase awareness for climate change. The people still hopes that their dream of having a "vegan" ice cream would turn into a reality. And to make sure that they are heard, there were about 30,000 signatures added to the Change.Org petition continuously asking Ben and Jerry's to add a vegan option in their line of ice cream. Soon enough, all the efforts were heard; when Ben and Jerry's announced that they are planning to launch their new vegan option in 2016.

Since the announcement, many people have been eagerly waiting to know more about the exact day and most importantly what flavors the new ice cream would have. So imagine how lovely it is for these ice-cream lovers to hear the news that their dairy free pints would be made using almond milk. Although details about the flavor or names of the products were not released yet, we have a feeling that it will be better that ever. Ben and Jerry's never disappoint.

The company issues a response as to why it's taking so long for the ice cream to come out with their vegan line saying, " We simply want our ice cream to be the best ever, and when you're doing something new, that means a lot of, ahem... testing."

It most certainly does, and we will continue to wait for the launch of Ben and Jerry's vegan ice cream.
