Daniel Radcliffe Harry Potter: Actor Opens Up About Dropping Boy Wizard Role, Saying He Drank To Cope With Loss

For a full decade, the names Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter were synonymous, as the British actor who incarnated J.K. Rowling's boy wizard spent about half of his life playing the role, so naturally, he had a hard time saying goodbye to the character when he finally bid it farewell - so, how did he cope?

Four years after the release of the last film of the franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," the actor has opened up about what it was like after Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter experience was over, and it was pretty tough.

Speaking on the "WTF Podcast with Marc Maron" earlier this week, the "Victor Frankenstein" star opened up about struggling after Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter involvement, candidly saying that he'd "freaked out" when it was time for the last film to wrap, as he felt lost and became all too aware of the fact he wouldn't see his pals every year from now on, including friends Emma Watson and Matthew Lewis.

"There was definitely a time when I was coming out of 'Potter' and I was into the real world, suddenly I was in a world where I'm not going to have that consistency anymore. I'm not going to see all those people every year. I'm not going to have my friends around me all the time," the 26 year-old star shared, ABC News reports, speaking about that last Daniel Radcliffe Harry Potter day. "I was pretty inconsolable on the last day of 'Potter' ... I was worried. I was living alone, and I think I was really freaked out."

According to Yahoo! News, the star gave up on alcohol altogether in 2013, a couple of years after Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter departure, explaining that his decision stemmed from feeling he was becoming too dependent on it.

Still, the actor has gone a long way from Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter days, now focusing more on indie films - and he's actually been in 5 projects this year, with three more scheduled for 2016!
