Bette Midler: "There Will Be No Hocus Pocus 2"

The rumors about a sequel to Hocus Pocus seem to be just... well, another hocus pocus circulating around the internet.

Bette Midler, who plays the role of Winifred, took to Facebook to tell everyone that there won't be a Hocus Pocus 2. In a question and answer thread by Midler, a follower of her page brought it up, to which the Divine Miss M straightforwardly answered: "After all these years and all the fan demand, I do believe I can stand and firmly say an equivocal no."

Although director Kenny Ortega told https://hollywoodlife.com>Hollywood Life that he wouldn't mind doing a sequel and that the Sanderson sisters deserve another opportunity to land in the middle of something and do it all again, there hasn't been much movement so far. Apart from Midler, Parker has gone on the record to clear things up, too. As far as she knows, there is no Hocus Pocus 2 coming soon unfortunately.

In the past, there had been efforts made to make the sequel happen. Co-writer and producer David Kirschner revealed that he tried to pitch a theatrical follow-up for Hocus Pocus as a Disney Channel original movie. There are no updates regarding that matter as of the moment, which actually just gave more reasons for solid Hocus Pocus fans to hope for another one.

Najimy (@kathynajimy) and Midler (@BetteMidler) recently had a rather funny exchange of tweets associated with the movie, revealing that the real reason no sequel has been made yet is because they couldn't find a 'virgin'.
