The Highest Grossing movie from 2014 is Guardians of The Galaxy. What makes it so special?
First, it is a movie about Peter Quill, a man who is abducted by The Ravagers, a group of Space Pirates. Twenty-six years pass and Peter steals an important orb. After that, an entire adventure where he is the main target of a hunt takes place.
The actor who plays Peter Quill is Chris Pratt, who worked in well-known series such as Everwood and Parks and Recreation. He has also been in several movies, such as Her (2013) and Take Me Home Tonight (2011). Other actors that appear in this franchise are Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and Benicio Del Toro.
The movie is based on one of the Marvel Comic Books and follows several superheroes in their quests. Lately, Marvel has been hitting Jackpot with its movies and characters.
This is the time of superheroes, clearly. Many movies of the same caliber have been appearing and succeeding more than all the rest, like Batman and the whole trilogy by Christopher Nolan, Spiderman in its two variations, The trilogy starring Tobey Maguire and the other version directed by Marc Webb, called "The Amazing Spiderman."
After these, other movies that include not only one superhero but several have been main characters as well, such as "The Avengers." To continue with this line, James Gunn has directed and written this movie.
In his filmography, he also counts with having written "Dawn of The Dead," which coincidentally it is also an adventure including several people looking to reach a place and escape from the zombies at the same time.
Here, he changed the characters but the storyline seems to be an interest of him to explore and expand. When he was asked about what makes this movie stand out, he said "We're making something that is so outstanding and with so many crazy situations, characters and settings. These characters emotional lives are the most important thing in the film."
A sequel of "Guardians Of The Galaxy" is already announced due to its tremendous success, and it will be released on 2017, where apparently Peter Quill's father will be one of the main characters as well.
