Channel 4 Documentary 'The World's Most Expensive Food' Features Edible Gold, Beer-Fed Beef, 'Escargot Pearls' [VIDEO]

If you're looking to have an extravagant gastronomic experience, it's best to wait and see Channel 4's documentary before making a decision as to where to dine.

The documentary, entitled "The World's Most Expensive Food," features none other than the most expensive food you can get your hands on across the globe. The Evening Standard reports:

"Channel 4 documentary The World's Most Expensive Food does what it says on the luxury, bespoke, hand-crafted tin, showing off the weird and wonderful meals the super-rich will pay for to impress their friends."

The show features Bubble Food, a high-end catering group that typically tops off their starters and appetizers with gold leaf. Truth be told, gold leaf doesn't taste like anything, but it surely does make your food look luxurious!

On the other hand, there's snail suppliers Sophie and Michael Wharton. In the documentary, the couple tries their hand at seducing chefs with their newest product, "escargot pearls," which is a fancy term for snail eggs.

Although most people would die before actually eating those escargot pearls, chefs actually pay a hefty amount of £1400 or over $2,100 per kilo.

Let's not forget Ifor Humphreys - a British farmer that tends to Japanese Wagyu cattle. In case you didn't know, Japanese Wagyu is the most expensive kind of beef around the world.

These cattle are highly pampered - you might even get jealous - they get regular massages, in addition to being able to drink beer all the time. Although they sound really nice, the pampering techniques are actually done to give the meat a marbling effect.

"The World's Most Expensive Food" aired on Thursday on Channel 4 at 9PM (If you missed it, we're pretty sure you can find a re-run or a copy somewhere).
