Miss Haiti 2014 News: Crowd Favorite Restaurant Owner Carolyn Desert, [VIDEO] BALD AND BEAUTIFUL Crowned Miss Haiti 2014

A crowd favorite, Carolyn Desert, was crowned Miss Haiti 2014 which was held in Port-au-Prince. The Miss Haiti 2014 beauty pageant was held at the prestigious Karibe Hotel last Sunday, September 7, 2014. Carolyn Desert is a 25-year-old restaurant owner and a freelance writer. She owns a Mexican restaurant in Petionville district. Aside from pursuing her career, Desert is also a philanthropist at heart. She is a known supporter of poor children and artist in Haiti. The elegant way she answered that question during the Q&A portion of the competition gathered applause from the crowd who were watching the Miss Haiti 2014.

During the Miss Haiti 2014 competition, Desert proudly said that Haitian women have a lot to offer. Of course they have the looks but aside from that, Haitian women have courage, resilience, and perseverance.

Desert was among the only two contestants who chose to wear their hair in a "cropped style." The issue of the other contestants choosing to wear hair extensions or straighten their hair during the competition versus wearing it "naturally" triggered debates among critics. But this shouldn't be criticized since they have the liberty to choose what they should look like during the prestige competition.

Among Desert's supporters were the girls from Restavek Freedom Foundation. This foundation helps rescue child slaves in Haiti. Voly Manoucheca, one of the girls from Restavek Freedom Foundation, said that she has been living in the foundation's home for the past three years. She said that she loves watching beauty pageant because she loves watching the contestants speak, move and the way they train for the competition.

Desert will represent Haiti in the 2014 Miss World competition. She will also represent the country in several trips sponsored by Haiti's tourism ministry.

It cost $120 to watch the Miss Hait 2014. There were diplomats, musicians and politicians who watched the event. Desert was crowned by none other than Tourism Minister Stephanie Balmir Villedrouin.
