'The Good Dinosaur Scared The Hell Out Of Our Kids!' Parents Complain

Disney Pixar's latest animated treat "The Good Dinosaur" has been earning fairly critical praises from social media and movie reviews. However, this weekend's high- grossing animated film about an epic journey of a dinosaur who befriends a boy had the gripping attention of parents.

"My husband's sleeve was soaked from my 10-year-old's tears, the 2-year-old was terrified, and I could hear the 5- and 8-year-old crying throughout the movie," a parent wrote on a movie rating website, in a report by Business Insider

Since its premier last week, parents are complaining that the animated movie which is expected to be a film for children due to it's General Patronage (G) film rating, which means it's suitable for kids did not turn out quite as expected, being a movie for kids. One parent also raised the issue that it should not be watched by young kids, rather audiences should be 15 and above.

Why do kids find 'The Good Dinosaur' frightening?

Another parent who reacted on CommonSenseMedia.com said that children were crying and leaving the theater. Her child also asked her to never see the 'scary' film again.

The said site, that allows parents to rate various media writes that Pixar's animated prehistoric saga which successfully melds Finding Nemo and E.T. has stunning visuals and strong values about loyalty and bravery, also contains many unappealing scenes to children like death and danger and may likely frighten younger and more sensitive viewers. Parents however could turn the other cheek around by using the film to talk about how one can overcome fear.

Also, in a review by Christopher Schobert for buffalo.com, he describes  Pixar's latest entry as "violent, poorly scripted and often ponderous, it feels like a rushed affair from some very talented filmmakers" and that it is too dark for kids.

It can also be recalled that in 2009, Pixar's best animated film entry "Up" was being criticised for it's emotionally dark opening sequence. #TheGoodDinosaur
