‘Rambo’ TV Series in The Works? Everything You Need to Know Here!

A "Rambo" TV reboot has been confirmed, with Fox having teamed up with Stallone who's set to executive produce the one-hour drama. However, it remains to be seen whether the 69-year-old will star in the TV series.

While based on the original films which feature the iconic character's solo adventures, "Rambo: New Blood" will follow Rambo and his son J.R.'s life. J.R. is a former navy seal who was never shown in the film franchise.

For the unfamiliar, the "Rambo" films follows the life of Rambo, who was also in the U.S. Army Special Forces. In the second and third instalments, Rambo centers around Rambo's missions in Vietnam and Thailand.

Fox has already given the green light on the project, according to Deadline. The company has talked with Jeb Stuart ("Die Hard," "The Fugitive") to write the script and executive produce the project as well.

Since Stallone has not confirmed his reprisal as Rambo, Cinema Blend said it's highly likely that he will turn down the role once again, since the last time project was pitched Stallone reportedly didn't express any interest could star as the new Rambo on TV.

Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Rambo" TV series project is now in the works only after two full years that eOne and NuImage/Millennium Films signed a deal to co-produce "a TV series based on the "Rambo" property.

For the Fox Network, the "Rambo" TV series comes along with the development of another series based on a Stallone-starring franchise - the "Expendables."

Since the "Rambo" films have all been R-rated for "bloody violence," "language" and such, it's interesting to find out how the violence will play out in the TV series.

Currently, there are a lot of reboots and remakes in the works, as listed by Cinema Blend here. While some appear to never move forward, some are in the early stages of production, but have reportedly been kept off schedule. There is no guarantee whether the "Rambo" TV series will actually happen, but there's a high chance that it doesn't, especially considering its delay the last time it was pitched.
