Emily Kinney: After Stopping Watching 'The Walking Dead' Now Likens Seeing 'TWD' to High School

After her unexpected and heartbreaking death in 'The Walking Dead Season 5', Emily Kinney has definitely moved on to do great things such as her WhyHunger campaign involvement with hungerthon.org, which believes in upholding the human right to good nutrition and hopes to help lessen hunger.

Having being in the show for five seasons as music-loving Beth Greene, Kinney describes her alumna experience in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio: "I think in some ways it's more fun because I don't know what's going to happen...But then, in another way, it still feels like my friends up there going through this stuff, so I don't know. It's a very interesting experience watching."

Kinney also says watching the show now somewhat creates a feeling similar to revisiting an old beloved high school. "The people that I haven't even met that are big [characters now] - that's sort of like, whoa! I don't want to compare this amazing job to high school, but it's a little bit like when you go back to your high school to be like, 'Oh, hey, teacher I miss, or friend I miss,' and you feel like there's something different and feel a little weird. It's nothing bad, but you're sort of like, oh, I guess I've moved on in a certain way. It's just what happens."

Kinney's death as Beth Greene was a public-wide shock that none of 'TWD''s avid followers expected, or even appreciated. In fact, a significant percentage had been preparing for a full-on romantic team-up between Greene and resident hard-nut Daryl Dixon, played by actor Norman Reedus. 'The Walking Dead' cast themselves were quite taken aback by her abrupt demise.

In an earlier interview, Kinney spoke about cutting off the show for a while after her screen death because watching the episode of her end would have taken away from her own memories of how that experience played out for her.
