Keith Urban Husband of Nicole Kidman Reveals Dad Is in Hospice Care: He "Only Has a Few Weeks"

Keith Urban is still reeling from the heartbreaking news that his father, Robert Urban, has been recently placed in hospice care - a type of care that focuses on the palliation of a chronically, terminally or seriously ill patients' pain and symptoms, including their emotional and spiritual needs.

"He's probably only got a few weeks if that. I've just been dealing with that the last couple of days," the country star told The Tennessean.

"I've just been dealing with that the last couple of days. This has all come at a very strange time where it's typical of a career that has extreme highs and extreme lows all often at the exact same time. Urban said.

So [the exhibit] is bittersweet a little bit because [my dad] is the catalyst for all of this. My dad is the catalyst for me living in America."

Urban credits a large part of his career to his father, who used to sew his stage outfits for him when he was still trying to make it in the music business.

He shared that his dad thought it was important that he "dressed like a performer," and recalled that it was his father who inspired him to live his dreams as a singer.

In February, the star posted a picture of him and his father and paid tribute to what the man had done for him.

"Being a Dad gives me a WHOLE new love and appreciation for my Dad - and everything he’s done for me."

Keith has the full support of his wife, Nicole Kidman,  who lost her father, Dr. Anthony Kidman, after suffering a fall at a Singapore Hotel last year.

The 48-year-old, red-headed actress recently opened up about her and her husband's "wonderful" relationship.

The couple, who met in 2005 and married the following year, share two children together - Sunday, 7-year-old and Faith, 5-year-old.
