Move Over Millennials – Let's Welcome the Founders!

Do you find yourself on Snapchat every day, not realizing that you end up spending a lot of time on it? Do you feel like you and the 90's just don't click? No nostalgic drama? Do you flush with embarrassment every time someone discovers you have a Facebook account?

If you answer 'yes' to these questions, well you are no doubt considered to be a Founder (credits go to MTV for dubbing this title, Vogue reports).

In the past, companies and the media have brainstormed on what to call today's preteens and teenagers. A lot of attempts have been made to come up with a name for the new generation of kids. There were titles like Generation Z from the New York Times, iGen from Apple, and then Plurals.

It's possible that it has been a challenging task to think of a name for the new gen because the millennials are the ones who are in charge. Finally, MTV discovered that the extremely effective way to understand this generation is to simply talk to these teens. They surveyed about 1,000 kids last March to choose what they want this generation to be called. It appears that they have settled for the new name. Now, the title 'Founders' came into existence.

If you were born after December 2000 and grew up surrounded by Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and other forms of social media, then by all means, call yourself a Founder.

This link to social media has created a generation of kids comfortably basking in the spotlight. This created a group of Youtube and Snapchat celebrities.

Being a Founder means having a realistic approach for their future. Millennials have a different outlook - they believed that they can achieve anything. On the other hand, Founders were raised during a troubled economy. Their parents fought hard to pay dues and retain their jobs. The staggering economy during that time left them with a mentality that is reluctant to take risks.

It's time for the Millennials to take a step back. Welcome, Founders!
