Fashion Police to Continue Without Joan Rivers

E! will continue airing its franchise show "Fashion Police" even after Joan Rivers' passing on. The station confirmed yesterday that it would continue airing the comedy fashion show even after the death of its main host and the queen of snarky, Joan Rivers.

Joan Rivers passed on 8th September during what was to be a routine procedure at an outpatient surgery facility in New York. Just one week prior, she had suffered a cardiac arrest. The 81 year old reportedly suffered heart failure and stopped breathing.

E!, just before airing their Joan Rivers Marathon yesterday stated that they had indeed considered multiple dynamics that the show would take following the passing of Rivers who had become known as the face of snarky in the show. Through her quick wit and comic comments, Rivers had become the embodiment of the show. Though other E! personalities had become regulars on the show, it is hard to imagine the show without her presence.

"Fashion Police" will resume coverage in January 2015 with coverage of the Golden Globe awards ceremony and red carpet. E! was careful not to mention who would host the show. Rivers hosted the show alongside Kelly Osbourne, Juliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos. Melissa Rivers, Joan's daughter was the show's producer.

The cable channel said on Friday that it had decided to go on airing the show with the blessing of River's daughter Melissa. The cable channel went ahead to say that the continuance of the show is what Joan would have wanted.

In its Friday statement, E! also added that they were deeply saddened by the death of the host/ comedian. "We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of 'Fashion Police," stated the channel. It is that fact that led to the decision for the continuance of the show.
