Why Adele Didn't Receive A Nomination for the 2016 Grammys

There's no doubt that Adele is doing musically well this year.

It hasn't even been a month since she first released "25," her third studio album in a number of years. But people definitely went crazy - loving every single track that's so far been released - over the long awaited album.

According to E! News, "25" took home every single "accolade in the record book." It debuted at number one in several markets, in addition to "setting a new record for the most downloads" in a week for the first single released from the track, "Hello."

Not only that, but the album also sol 3.38 million copies within the first week of it's release - making it the "largest single-week album sale since sales were even tracked beginning in 1991."

With all those groundbreaking records, "25" is undoubtedly a huge success. So how come Adele didn't get any 2016 Grammy nominations for the album?

When the nominees for the 2016 Grammys Awards were released this morning - where several other artists like Kendrick Lamar, the Weeknd and Taylor Swift received recognition - Adele and her new album were definitely snubbed.

Fans even took to Twitter to express their objections to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for their choices of nominees.

Malaysian Twitter user Fudo said in all caps, "Why is Adele not nominated for the Grammys. Why Taylor [Swift]???!?!!!"

Meanwhile, user Chachi tweeted, "Next year Adele will win everything on pop anyway lol."

In spite of these criticisms and negative reactions, there's one clear and understandable reason as to why Adele and "25" didn't receive any nominations for the 2016 Grammys: She is not eligible.

The Grammy Awards' website clearly states in its rules and regulations about submissions: "For the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015."

In case you forgot, "Hello" and "25" were not released during the specified time period. In fact, the first single off the track was only released in late October, while the album was released in the middle of November.
