A "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2" trailer has recently been released by Netflix.
As noted by Mashable, the trailer for the Netflix original film titled "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny" is not unlike the original film which came out 15 years ago. It features the same non-stop action, but risks are higher as the sequel is released in this age of post-streaming possibilities.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2" features Michelle Yeoh, whose character Yu Shu-Lien narrates the Netfilx trailer by first telling the story of how she ends up in the battlefield once again even after leaving it all these years. Yeoh is joined on screen by Donnie Yen, who stars as Silent Wolf, who in the sequel is also called back to battle a new evil lord that shakes the Earth's future. Silent Wolf needs to find a legendary sword to win against the new, powerful enemy.
The film basically centers on the sword, which could cause Yu Shu-Lien and her allies' deaths if it gets into the wrong hands. The "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2" plot also tells the epic love story of young and lost love, and a chance at redemption.
The "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2" cast also include Jason Scott Lee, Roger Yuan, Eugenia Yuan, Natasha Liu Bordizzoas and Harry Shum, Jr.
It remains to be seen whether "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2" is worth seeing, but the trailer shows promising action scenes filled with flying and sword-fighting moves that viewers loved in the first film.
According to Slash Film, the film does not appear like a hit in Netflix ratings and sales. However, the sequel could reportedly become big outside Netflix.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny" is slated for release in China and Netflix in other parts of the world on February 26, 2016. The film will also be released on IMAX.
Slash Film reported that there had been a problem with theater owners last year as the chains refused to release the film, but it had been controversial when the Netflix deal reportedly threatened their business models.
