'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Actor Mark Hamill Lost 50lbs For The Movie

Mark Hamill, who is best known for his role as Luke Skywalker on Star Wars is very excited to return in the seventh franchise of the sci-fi movie. He was so thrilled that he even decided to lose a lot of weight to look good for the upcoming, most anticipated film.

The 64 year old actor still couldn't believe that he will be returning to the big screen for the first time since 1983 as the famous Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. So, to prepare for the movie, Hamill embarked himself on a strict diet to shed off a lot of pounds to be in best shape for the filming.

"(I don't want compliments) It implies that I looked so dreadful before!" Mark confessed to The Rolling Stone Magazine, according to contact music. The actor revealed that he changed his eating habits since he found out that he will be filming for the latest sci-fi franchise. He said he already avoided food that "tastes good" to lose pounds.

"Look at what I'm eating now instead of potato chips and bagels, (it's fruit). I'm on the 'if it tastes good, don't eat it' diet," the actor explained to the publication.

After many years of being in the Hollywood wilderness, Hamill also confessed to Mirror that "This time I'm going to appreciate it in a way I wasn't able to as a young man." Adding, "It's kind of like Scrooge waking up on Christmas morning. The film is so special to so many people."

Mark was set for stardom after being part of the Stars Wars franchise but found himself struggling with his career after being involved in a car crash that left him with a fractured face on Jan 1977, 12 months before the movie was released.

Since the accident, Hamill admitted that he put Star Wars behind him and moved on with his life with his voice work. So when approached if he would consider doing the role again. Mark said he was totally shocked as he "never thought it would happen, not in a million years."
