Good News for Wine Lovers: Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) Have Announced That They Will Include Nutritional Information on All of Its Products

People these days are all about keeping track of the number of calories they have ingested, making them very self-conscious about what they put into their body. At the same time, wine has also been widely recognized by people, not only for its sophisticated taste, but for the health benefits they can get from it as well.

Imagine how great it would be for those health conscious people to know that Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has released a statement saying that the company has voluntarily started to include calorie information on all of is bottled wine products to help people make choices on what they want to drink.

Drinks Business reported that the Australian-based winemaking operation which owns U.S. brands like Beaulieu, Sterling and Stag's Leap, as well as other internationally known brands such as Penfolds, is set to be the very first in the global wine industry to give out nutritional information on the label of its products.

There have been a few liquor companies who have started this trend. In March, Diageo, the multinational alcoholic beverages company became the first producer of alcoholic drinks to announce that they will be adding a nutritional panel to all of its products, including beer, wine and mostly spirits. Crown Royal became the first Diageo brand released with a nutritional label, which includes key information on calories, carbohydrates and fat per serving, on its bottles in October.

TWE general manager for Europe, Dan Townsend, told Drinks Business they are aware that consumers are highly interested in knowing the facts about the number of calories their products have to help them make more informed choices on alcohol consumption. It is the company's obligation to deliver them what they want. He also said that TWE has a notable mark all over the world, with their wines being sold in more than 70 countries.

Treasury Wine Estates will be considered as the first wine producer to market their labeled wines internationally, however Spanish wine producer Félix Solís Avantis has already made an impression in the domestic market with their labeled wines.
