Attention Companies: The Color of Your Logo Makes the First Impression

Building a company from scratch may be a hectic task and a major one to fulfill. Attention to detail is a must or everything else can go wrong. Speaking of details, Entrepreneur.com has a simple advice to those who are about to venture on establishing a new brand.

Let's not take for granted the color that you choose to represent your company. It is the most substantial detail that new companies should take note of as it attracts buyers/consumers.

If your company aims for the slogans with the, "Go Green", "Vegetarians Rock," "Organic is Healthy" kind of vibe, selecting a black color for your logo may not be the smartest move.  First, it's going to totally mess up your consumers' heads. Second, it might take a toll on your sales because of this.

We need to take a look at this in a more scrutinizing perspective.  This is what most of us are likely to forget - a color conveys a certain feeling.

Black means sophistication, luxury, seductive, formal. It's no wonder companies like BBC, Chanel, and Hilton hotels choose this color. This best represents the se popular brands.

Here's a quick overview about the colors used by the most famous brands today:

Facebook, Ford and Visa all use blue. These companies want to communicate feelings like security, honest and trustworthy. You can't blame them; these brands have a reputation to uphold.

It's no surprise that the children's channel, Nickelodeon, chooses orange. This color wants to attract people and generates a happy and sociable atmosphere.

For all the veggie-lovers out there, or those who just want to explore organic products, your best bet is to use green. Subway, Greenpeace, and Starbucks use this color to promote their brands. It creates a natural vibe, a caring sense, and an earthly feel.

Keep in mind - color isn't the only element that connects to your customers. Font, spacing and shape have the same effects to your brand. For more information about color and font schemes to complete your brand design, take a look at the infographic made by Colourfast here
