Amy Schumer Fought For Women in 2015 and Won, Her Battle Against Stereotypes

You may know Amy Schumer as the comedian actress who starred in Trainwreck but to many, she is a hero for women. She had been fulfilling non-expectations for the past year. Pushing away the stereotypical notion of what it means to be pretty and popular, in a society built on power and fame in Hollywood.

In March, Schumer launched herself in SXSW. She showcased herself:

That's what's up. This is me really taking a look at me,

She was very emotional earlier in the year but she was passionate about this film because it is a complete representation of herself which will eventually become her initial validation to women everywhere.

At the beginning of the year, Schumer made sure that objectifying women is a subject in her self titled Comedy Central show. She paraded a provocative campaign that poked fun at the ridiculous beauty standards people have been putting on women. She had the support of Tina Fey, Patricia Arquette and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Another moment was when she took a fall on the red carpet because reporters would rather get the attention of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. That moment was the time people noticed her. Again, signifying her point about objectifying women and standards of beauty.

Mid-year, Schumer decided to bare her emotional bones with Gloria Steinema at the Gala hosted by the Foundation for Women. She detailed a speech about a very bad sexual encounter in college. That speech has made it known to everyone that she doesn't care what she looks like and she only cares what she thinks. And at that point, she claims women should do the same.

Last month, Schumer posed nude for a Pirelli calendar which is a twist in the standard pin-up girl. The feminist photo showed all of Schumer - her curves, her body, her beauty, her fat, her everything. And she was not ashamed. She was Amy being Amy.

And to cap the year off, she is on the same level as Jennifer Lawrence being nominated for a Golden Globe.

If that wasn't a good year for Schumer, then it should be for women around the world, as posted by Joanna Robinson.
