Microsoft has revealed its interest to buy the voice messaging startup Talko. The company will be utilized to improve the Skype and the Skype for Business services.
Talko which was founded by Ray Ozzie who is a former CTO of Microsoft will be shutting down. Some of Ozzie's team will be working with the tech company but Ozzie revealed that he will be going the other way. The founder admitted that the voice messaging company cannot survive on its own.
In a blog post, the company has revealed that only a small number of apps become famous and sadly Talko wasn't able to make it.
"For all the value and enjoyment it's delivered, and for all the team's listening and perseverance, Talko was largely on the path to filling a (passionate) niche. We're in this to have great impact, so it's time for a change," the company wrote.
This is not the first time that Microsoft bought a company founded by Ozzie. In 2005, it can be remembered that the multinational company acquired the Groove Networks of Ozzie.
Talko will be shutting down in March 2016.
On the other hand, Microsoft has also acquired Metanautix, a company that can collect information from different cloud data sources both public and private. The American company has not yet revealed its official plan for the newly bought company but recent reports have stated that it will be used in products such as Cortana Analytics Suite and SQL Server.
The acquisition is part of the company's plan to expand into the powerful analytics business and artificial intelligence features. Microsoft targets to enhance its growth in the tech world.
Unlike other tech companies, Microsoft will then be able to offer access to capabilities on their own giving them an advantage. More users will then be drawn to the company.
