A Man Decided to Lose Weight After Proposing on One Knee and Had a Hard Time Standing Back Up

Most people start their weight loss journeys because of several reasons-they wanted to be healthier, they wanted to change for the better. But for self proclaimed junk food addict Mitch Burgess, he realized he needed to shed some pounds when two of life's precious moments became something that would make him realize he's unhealthy.

In 2014, Mitch Burgess was 22 years old, weighed 18 stone and had a 42-inch waist. After celebrating his birthday with his family, a chicken burger and 8 refills of a plate of chips, he decided he really needed to lose weight. Coming home with the realization, he pulled out the bathroom scale and weighed himself for the first time in a very long time.

"The moment I realized that things had to change was on my birthday," Burgess shared.

One year before that, he was 21 years old, in Spain with his girl friend Kelly. He got down on one knee, asked her to be his wife. She said yes. Everything was according to plan and they were both happy. But there was one thing that ruined the perfect memory; he struggled getting up.

Ashamed, he went home feeling determined as ever. He decided that the life he lived being fat, eating whatever he wanted and doing nothing to improve his lifestyle is done.

He started going to the gym and downloading home exercises from the internet and different health apps. As he saw the progress, his visits to the gym became more frequent, as much as five days a week.  Mitch also learned how his eating habits and choices mattered.

Now, Mitch Burgess is 24 years old, weighs 11 stone and has a 32-34 -inch waist. HE is happily married with his partner who he tells a big part of his transformation.

"My wife has been a massive help as well and she really motivated me to lose weight. She has been my best friend since the age of about 12 and has always backed me in anything I have done," Burgess said.

It took him two moments that signaled him it is time to change.
