Kellogg's CEO suggests cereal as a budget-friendly dinner option, sparking an online debate. Was this a money-saving hack or a PR faux pas? Take a look at what he had to say.

Look, we love us some cereal, but Kellogg's CEO, Gary Pilnick, wants us to eat cornflakes for dinner to save money. We wonder why these CEOs don't let their PR people make these statements because cereal for dinner? OK, sure, I'm listening. Cereal for dinner cause I'm broke as a joke? You just lost me, dude. It just doesn't hit the same.

Budget-Conscious CEO or Out-of-Touch Corpo?

Facing the stark reality of constantly rising food prices, Pilnick recently suggested cereal as a budget-friendly dinner option on CNBC's Squawk on the Street, leaving many on the internet with a collective, "Really, man?" reaction. Pilnick claims cereal's affordability is a boon, though many scoff at his alleged under-a-dollar dinner "solution." He even throws in a statistic that 25% of cereal is already eaten outside of breakfast. This may be true, but this also may sound like a cash grab on your part, Gary.

Internet Divided on This Thrifty Solution

Some welcome this as a money-saving idea, while others raise concerns about rising cereal prices and its role as a real meal. Again, there is nothing wrong with eating breakfast foods any time of the day. In fact, Stella D'Oro Breakfast Treats once had a hysterical ad campaign claiming their morning coffee biscuits weren't just for breakfast anymore. But be it cookies or Coco Pops these aren't exactly balanced, nutritional ways for you to fuel your busy life. And Mr. CEO here isn't even mentioning that both dairy milk and vegan alternatives are getting mad expensive lately.
