If there is one thing that Starbucks tends to get ahead of without any sort of fear is making innovations. They think of an idea and go for it. Somehow, those ideas tend to include giving things away to the costumers.
So when the idea stroke of giving coffee, the most famous product that you can get in Starbucks, it was pure genius. Mark out for life: what does this mean? That 10 costumers from Starbucks can get free coffee.
Not technically for their entire lives, because that would be truly crazy, but the markout for life stands for 30 years of life of these costumers. And what is a way to fall into the category of the chosen?
The only thing that all costumers have to do to be eligible to the mark out for life is pay either with a Starbucks card or paying directly through a mobile device, according to USA Today.
Apparently, this new promotion and idea was part of a plan to help the mobile device new system that Starbucks has acquired to gain popularity.
"Holiday 2013 witnessed a seismic shift in consumer behavior in which many traditional brick-and-mortar retailers experienced a decline in foot traffic compared to significant growth in online shopping," said Howard Schultz, chief executive of Starbucks.
So, due to the growth in online shopping that Starbucks has noticed, the mark out for life seems like an appealing idea to make a complete shift from the company and trade to online shopping.
According to Starbucks, the launching of "Starbucks for Life" or the Starbucks mark out for life will be happening first in Portland at the end of this year, for the holidays.
