British actress Lynda Bellingham died yesterday at 66 after fighting with colon cancer, her agent confirmed.
Sue Latimer, her agent, made a statement in behalf of Bellingham's family saying that "Lynda died peacefully in her husband's arms yesterday at a London hospital."
The actress was diagnosed with colon cancer on 2013. In the past month, she finally announced about her terminal cancer to the public and that her condition did not get any better after diagnosis. The cancer eventually spread to her lungs and liver.
Ten days before her death, Bellingham was able to publish an autobiography, "There's Something I've Been Dying To Tell You". In this memoir, she undergone chemotherapy but decided to end her treatment for it was so painful and that her body was "protesting" from it. She also told her oncologist to "let the natural way do its thing" and that she plans to see her one last Christmas.
Bellingham is best known for her role as a mother in the Oxo TV adverts and for being a former "Loose Woman" presenter. She even made an emotional come back in the said TV show and when asked how she wants to be remembered, she answered, "Just as an honest person" and told her fellow presenters not to cry, "It will be fine".
Some of the celebrities who paid tribute to the actress were Phillip Schofield, Amanda Holden and actor Simon Pegg, who co-starred with Bellingham in the 90's TV show, "Faith in the Future".
Born in Montreal, Canada as Meredith Lee Hughes, Bellingham grew up near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. She then studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She landed roles in "All Creatures Great and Small" on 1978 and "Second Thoughts" on 1991.
Bellingham is survived by her loving husband, Michael Pattemore, his two sons, Robbie and Michael, and a stepson, Bradley.
