Bear Eats Man In California After Finding The Allegedly Dead Body – ‘He Was About 85 Percent Consumed’

Bear Eats Man - A black bear ate a man in California, after apparently finding him dead and by chance being nearby.

Marion Williams, a 65 year-old man lived in rural Northern California and it seems that he went out to a water source that was about a 100 yards from his trailer, and he collapsed from a heart attack before reaching it.

After that, a black bear saw him and dragged him away. Then, he ate him.

This happened on Oct. 8 and on Oct. 11, his friends called the police because they were concerned about him disappearing abruptly and apparently, they visited his home and smelled the decaying body, according to the Huffington Post.

Once the call was done, the Humboldt County Deputy Coroner Roy Horton, took care of visiting the place and estimated that the story went indeed in that way and the man was dead before the bear took care of eating him.

"The bear did eat most of this guy. He was about 85 percent consumed," Horton said.

The California Department of Fish And Wildlife tried to catch the bear once he had already eaten the man and Williams was found, but they weren't able to reach it. They also did share that it was very unlikely that the bear would still be in the area.

Horton, on the other hand, has no plan of looking for the bear or messing with it as he sustains that the bear was acting naturally and not doing anything wrong.

"It looks like he collapsed and died. The bear comes along and sees a potential food source," Horton shared and the NY Daily News noted.

Also, an important fact that helps Horton to not make a case of the bear who ate the man is that there are no cases of black bears attacking people in California. They seem to be rather tranquil and shy, and they don't tend to come up to people abruptly.
