Samsung Remains on Top: The Number 1 Vendors Globally

Samsung, Apple and LG were named as the three smartphone vendors on the global shipment based on the third quarter survey.  Meanwhile, Huawei, Xiaomi and Lenovo got the fourth, fifth and seventh place in the survey.

However, according to the released report of Digitimes Research, the Xiaomi's products such as Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G, still on the top position based on the shipment growth rate. The company had a 200 percent year-on-year growth shipments during its third quarter. The Chinese telecomm, ZTE has ousted from the top 10 list.

According to the report, the shipment of smart phones in 2014 is expected to hit 1.219 billion units mark and in 2015 the expected hit is 1.488 billion units. However, Digitimes does not mentioned which smartphone company had the sixth, eighth, night and 10th positions and they also mentioned that the survey was based on the vendors' reports and supply chain sources' data.

According to Digitimes Research, Samsung may be on the top list but their Galaxy S5 smarthphone is currently underperforming in the global market.  Based on the Wall Street Journal report, Samsung Company only sold 12 million units of Samsung Galaxy S5 in the first three months after the launch.

Samsung also announced their plans for next year; they are planning to cut the number of models to one-third. The plan was made to increase the production of the remaining models so the company can compete with its Chinese rivals.

According to Strategy Analytics, when it comes to sales volume, Samsung is still the prominent leader but the company's share of the global smartphone market has decrease from 35 percent to fewer than 25 percent a year ago.
