While in Beirut, the star passed away and no precise reports on the entire cause were given. She's been one of the most prolific entertainers from the Arab community.

Born in 1927, she recorded about 3,000 songs and acted in more than 80 Arab films, according to CNN.

"Lebanon and the Arab world lost a valuable artist with the demise of the great diva Sabah, whose departure from this world turned a page on our bright cultural heritage," said Prime Minister Tammam Salam, a muslim, in a statement.

The thing that people loved the most about Sabah was her voice. It was a powerful and appreciated by everyone. Even NPR praised it and even showed a sample of a song interpreted by the singer.

According to Page Six, Sabah's stage name translates to morning in Arab. Another nickname given to her was shahroura, which means "singing bird." Others referred to her as al-Ustura, or the Legend, in other words.

She was born to a Christian family and became famous from the 1940's. One detailed that called the attention about her all the time was the fact that she broke "taboos."

Sabah, apart from being a talented Lebanese singer, came from a conservative environment and absolutely challenged it by being herself all the time. It's calculated that she married nine times during her lifetime.

Seemingly, one of her husbands left her for wearing a "too short" skirt. Also, she went through a lot of plastic surgery to "keep" her youth and looks.

"She broke so many taboos. I don't know if she was even aware of it. She was the example of a star, she was totally complete: in her appearance, behavior and voice. She shocked people all the time," said Chady Maalouf, head of programming at Voice of Lebanon radio.

Sabah was definitely not just a singer and an actress, but a complete icon in Lebanese culture.
