There is plethora of foods in Florida.  Florida is an abode of mixed traditional Southern dishes, Caribbean and Latin influences.

 Floridians are known for their black eyed peas, cornbread, baked and candied sweet potatoes, Southern "pit" barbeque, garlic-seasoned prawns and crabs and more.

Although there are already a lot of foods in Florida, World Travel Guide reports that immigrants such as the Spanish-speaking Latin Americans, British West Indies, and Haiti have added more variations in its rich culture.

Those immigrants introduce spices like curry and jerk, plantains, yucca, rice and beans, mangoes, and other delicacies.

Key Lime Pie is notably one of the best foods in Florida. Your visit won't be complete without having a slice of this treat, the state's official pie. An authentic Floridian key lime pie is yellow as it is made up of egg yolks topped with meringue.

Citrus fruits grow abundantly in Florida than any other states from September to June. Often added to cocktails, these fresh fruits are also delectable refreshing drinks in the morning.

Swamp Cabbage

According to Maps of the World, swamp cabbage, which is also known as hearts of palm are traditional foods of the Native Americans who boil the cabbage from the sabal palm trees to make it softer. It will be added with cream or tomatoes.  

Today, it is considered as the official state tree of Florida and no one can use it for any dishes as it is protected by the law.

Conch Fritters

Conch Fritters are one of the best foods in Florida you'll ever find. It is made from a large shellfish or sea snail. The conch meat is cooked with lemon juice in a dish called seviche.

When fritters are made, the conch meat is chopped, and vegetables are added including onions, sweet peppers and hot peppers and celery to form small balls. The small balls will be fried to make conch fritters.
