Memories Pizza Closes: No To LGBT Business, Memories Pizza Forces To Shutdown

Memories Pizza closes on Wednesday following the owner's backlash over gay marriage.  Business is business, but this did not happen to a pizza parlor in Walkerton, Indiana that was forced to stop their operation after receiving phone and social media attacks over their view on LGBT services.

Kevin O'Connor, one of the owners of Memories Pizza told TMZ that his comment was taken wrong after he stated that he would not cater services to gay weddings.

After his statement, O'Connor was flooded with social media attacks and phone calls. Memories Pizza closes for the moment after the whole scenario boils down. Memories Pizza's Yelp page was flagged down with negative reviews where they had rating of 1.5 out of 5 on Wednesday evening.

A supporter of the Indiana's new Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the family-owned business made it clear that they would not serve same-sex weddings. Their announcement on Tuesday triggered public fury leading to undesirable online postings and phone threats, The Hill reported.

The next day, Memories Pizza closes making it the first venture to shut down under the new law.  In the report cited by The Wrap, O'Connor stated to ABC 57 that they won't provide pizzas for gay weddings as they are a Christian establishment.

Crystal O'Connor, a co-owner of the Memories Pizza, closes added that they strongly support the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act bill. She explained that she does not think that the bill targets the LGBT groups, but primarily, the law safeguards businesses like theirs that have religious beliefs.

Even after Memories Pizza closes their Yelp page continuously receives bad reviews.

"Also, very disappointed to hear this business does not offer services for all of their customers."- Nicholas Y.

O'Connor's remained on their stance and support of the new bill whether Memories Pizza closes or not. In the end, he concluded he is not sure whether he will reopen again.
