Virgin Airlines Food: Virgin Australia Serving Free Food On Domestic Flights!

Virgin Group, a multinational branded conglomerate that covers all kinds of business ventures from space flights to megastores, has made English entrepreneur Richard Branson a billionaire according to Forbes, and now one of its subsidiaries are giving something back by offering free Virgin Airlines food to all passengers on domestic flights in Australia.

Last year, Food World News reported that Branson's commercial spaceflight company, Virgin Galactic, had recently gone through a series of accidents that halted the way to space tourism for a while to come, but the new Virgin Airlines food news at least makes the conglomerate stand on more stable ground when it comes to other ventures.

Fox News reports that the Virgin Airlines food news came through a statement earlier this week, when the company's Australian Chief Customer Officer Mark Hassell spoke publicly about some of the new policies in what was formerly Virgin Blue, currently the second largest airline in the Oceanic nation.

Besides the free Virgin Airlines food, Sydney Morning Herald reports that the company will also start offering checked baggage to those passengers that fly across any of the airline's domestic destinations, in an attempt to beat major rival Qantas as the big head of the market in the country.

"We're delighted to announce that the Virgin Australia product offering now includes complimentary food and drink, checked baggage on all flights as well as entertainment across our domestic network," said Hassell in the Virgin Airlines food statement. "The rollout of free food and checked baggage, to complement our wireless in-flight entertainment, is an important part of our ability to deliver a consistent, premium service across our network."

News.com.au reports that the company's food choices will depend on the time of the day of the flight and how long the journey will take, with different Virgin Airlines food offers ranging from a muffin and a yogurt to a sandwich and a drink, in addition to existing complimentary coffee, tea, juice and water.
