Gwyneth Paltrow Stamp Challenge: Chris Martin’s Ex FAILS Food Stamp Challenge After 4 Days

Earlier this week, the "Iron Man" actress made news through the Gwyneth Paltrow stamp challenge, as she tried to survive one week with $29 worth of food stamps (or SNAP, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) for one week, trying to walk in the feet of those New Yorkers who can't afford anything else.

When first news of Gwyneth Paltrow's stamp challenge came out, the actress received heavy criticism over her choice in groceries, as many said that with that shopping list she'd only consume about 1,000 calories daily, half of what nutrition experts around the world recommend for a healthy diet - and, in general, the actress was roasted in the Internet over her effort.

Now, according to Sky News, it seems like Gwyneth Paltrow's stamp challenge saw the Oscar winner fail only four days in, a little more than half what she was expected to last - because she admitted that she'd broken her original pledge.

The Washington Post reports that it was celebrity chef Mario Batali who made the actress accept the Gwyneth Paltrow stamp challenge through the hashtag #FoodBankNYCChallenge; in the Internet challenge, New York residents are encouraged to only spend $29 a week on their food supplies, the same amount that an individual in the food stamps program receives; of course, the whole thing is an attempt to show how difficult it is for a family to survive this way.

"As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice)," she said on the Goop newsletter recently, speaking about she had failed the Gwyneth Paltrow stamp challenge. "My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even for just a few days-a challenge that 47 million Americans face every day, week, and year."

Above, you can see what Gwyneth Paltrow's stamp challenge bought her for $29 dollars - fairly odd choices for the woman who was Jennifer Lawrence's rival not too long ago!
