Ryan Reynolds Befriends Young Cancer Patient Who Wants to Meet Deadpool

The possible R-rating on the upcoming Marvel flick 'Deadpool' can stop kids from wanting to meet the foul-mouthed antihero. Ryan Reynolds recently met up with little Tony Acevedo, a young Hodgkin's lymphoma patient, on the set of 'Deadpool.'

Reynolds posted their pictures on Instagram, where the actor can be seen smiling at his young fan who is wearing Deadpool's mask and gloves.

"Tony Acevedo asked Make A Wish Foundation if he could meet Deadpool," Reynolds wrote. "I wasn't expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile... and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed. Tony's next fight is with Hodgkin's Disease. Hodgkin's Disease best be wearing its brown pants. Huge thanks to @makeawishamerica"

The character Deadpool knows a thing or two about battling a deadly disease. Although the Merc with a Mouth has advanced healing powers courtesy of the Weapon X program, he also suffers from a strange cancer. His accelerated regeneration affects both healthy and cancerous cells, which results in his not-so-pleasing appearance.

The Make-A-Wish foundation also made news when they arranged to have San Francisco transformed into Gotham City to help fulfill a young Batman fan's dream. It was a massive project where 'Batkid' go to save a woman and capture a few supervillains in just one day. The event was eventually turned into a documentary titled 'Batkid Begins,' which will be released on June 26, 2015.

'Deadpool' also stars comedian T.J Miller as Wade Wilson's sidekick Weasel and former 'Game of Thrones' star Ed Skrein as Ajax. Morena Baccarin, who is best remembered for playing Inarra Serra in the TV series 'Firefly,' will play Copycat. Former mixed martial artist Gina Carano appears as Angel Dust.

The film is directed by Tim Miller and is scheduled for release on February 12, 2016.
