An 89-Year-Old Grandma Can Still Be A Bridesmaid

Just because you're 89 years old doesn't mean you can't be a bridesmaid. That's what the bride, Christine Quinn though about considering asking her grandma to be a part of her wedding entourage.

At her May 2 wedding with groom, Patrick, who coincidentally shares her last name, Christine asked her Nana Betty (real name Betty Govern) to dress in a dusty purple gown and hold a bouquet at the ceremony with the rest of her bridesmaids.

"She asked me about 10 times, 'Are you sure?' and 'Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Christine told Huffington Post. "A few times she even said 'All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?' Obviously Nana is beautiful too."

Christine planned asking Nana Betty just few months before the big day "so she didn't have too much time to think about it." That's because the bride isn't sure her grandma would say yes, knowing the fac that Nana Betty isn't a fan of being the center of attention.

"She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day," the bride shared.

"You're only as old as you feel and I feel young today," Nana Betty said on the wedding day, according to the bride.

"Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of 'going home to rest' but did not tell my mom (her daughter)," Christine added. "She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband's grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing."

Although Christine doesn't live near her grandma, she always makes sure they spend more time together. "She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her."
