'Gangnam Style' Anti-American Lyrics Forgiven by White House, Korean Singer PSY Apologized for 'Emotional Reaction'

South Korean pop singer PSY apologized for making Anti-American remarks before his hit single "Gangnam Style" was made a huge hit. Even President Barack Obama doesn't see a problem with going to his concert after the reports surfaced.

Reports surfaced online that PSY a.k.a. Park Jae-sang, who made everybody start dancing his "Gangnam Style" dance, rapped anti-American lyrics back in 2004. The lyrics called for the death of American troops in Iraq.

"I understand the sacrifices American servicemen and women have made to protect freedom and democracy in my country and around the world," he said in a statement for his apology, according to FOX13NOW. PSY said his performance had been emotionally charged and was a response to events in the war in Iraq.

He also said that the song "was part of a deeply emotional reaction to the war in Iraq and the killing of two Korean schoolgirls that was part of the overall anti-war sentiment shared by others around the world at that time."

The girls were struck and killed by a U.S. military vehicle.

PSY continued: "While I'm grateful for the freedom to express one's self, I've learned there are limits to what language is appropriate and I'm deeply sorry for how these lyrics could be interpreted. I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused by those words.

"While it's important that we express our opinions, I deeply regret the inflammatory and inappropriate language I used to do so."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, PSY smashed an American tank onstage during a 2004 performance that was part of a protest against the 37,000 U.S. troops stationed on the Korean Peninsula.

He then rapped on the song "Dear American" during a protest concert after a South Korean missionary was executed in Iraq:

"Kill those f---ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f---ing Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully."

It seems all has been forgiven in the White House. According to Telegraph, a spokesman said Friday that the Obama family will attend the Dec. 21 Christmas in Washington concert.

PSY has appeared on "Ellen" and the "Today" show to perform his smash hit song, which has been downloaded 3 million times on iTunes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is the most-viewed video in YouTube history and has earned him more than $8 million.
