Krispy Kreme Donuts Under Investigation After Viral Video Shows Bugs Walking On Glaze At North Carolina Shop, Gross Food Safety Violation [WATCH]

Doughnuts are certainly one of the world's favorite breakfast items, with stores like Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts and even Starbucks sharing their own versions, but a recently surfaced viral video shows a concerning possibility regarding violations of food safety with Krispy Kreme donuts.

Ashh Nicole, a doughnut fan visiting a Krispy Kreme shop in High Point, North Carolina, was shocked and disgusted to realize that some Krispy Kreme donuts in the shop (the ones visible through a glass counter) had bugs crawling all over the glaze, posing a major food safety risk - one that left the store manager quite unfazed.

"The machine had freaking MOLD on the catcher and the employees were touching the floor with the same hands they handled the doughnuts with! One employee even dropped a spatula, picked it up and proceeded to scrape the belt the doughnuts were coming off!" wrote Nicole on her YouTube clip about Krispy Kreme Donuts, Consumerist reports. "After expressing my concern with the supervisor he shrugged me off."

To document her experience, Ms. Nicole posted a video on YouTube of what seem to be bugs crawling around donut glaze in the shop, and of course the clip went viral online.

According to The Mirror, Ms. Nicole's claims understandably prompted an investigation to look into the food safety procedures of these particular Krispy Kreme donuts, with the store under the scope located on "N Main in High Point," according to the concerned patron.

Metro reports that it was the very company that launched the investigation on Krispy Kreme's donuts, though they're doing it "through a third party" to keep lack of objectivity become an issue when it's time to face facts.

The company's Facebook page officially apologized to Ms. Nicole over her unpleasant experience visiting Krispy Kreme, adding that they were looking further into this.
