Marvel News: 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' Director Seat is Empty

All this talk of Ant-Man and the Wasp coming on screen is apparently a bit premature and everyone's Marvel nerves are already excited about the "coming out" of Hope as the Wasp but Ant-Man director Peyton Reed has actually not officially signed on to join the sequel.

Sure, we already know that Michael Douglas is probably joining the sequel and Reed has been talking about how fans are most likely excited of the joint title release featuring a female super hero in the mix but we have not seen a laminated certificate saying Reed will direct the sequel.

The Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel set to be released on July 8, 2018 has an empty director's chair. However, negotiations are already underway for him to lead the directorship and he claims that things are "looking good" so far. That might be a sign of hope for another microscopic adventure in the ant world.

Reed continues to tease us, saying "There are a lot of things set up in the first one that we are going to pay off in the second." Which ultimately means, that the whole movie was a teaser for the second one and we are not just talking about the last scene in the movie where Hope was presented with her mother's spicy wasp costume. Reed does sound positive hoping that they'll all get inside a single room at some point in the future to start planning the "story stuff". He hopes it will happen soon.

It's known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Behind the scenes) that Reed originally replaced director Edgar Wright after leaving the film a few months before production even began.

"We're going to take the second movie into some very unexpected directions" Reed noted.

What does that even mean? What is your take on how the sequel will go?

Ant-Man is now available in digital HD and the physical 3D and Blu-ray copies will be out on December 8, just in time for the holidays.
