Pharrell Williams Joins NBC's 'The Voice' as Coach For Season 7

Here's a reason to be happy, Grammy winner Pharrell Williams has officially signed on as a new coach for Season 7 of "The Voice."

According to E! News, to the hit NBC reality competition made the announcement on Twitter, writing: "Okay, we can OFFICIALY say it! WE ARE SO #HAPPY to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS = #NEWVOICECOACH for SEASON 7."

The 40-year-old producer and singer-songwriter retweeted the network's announcement and wrote, "This is going to be so fun." Coach Adam Levine welcomed Williams to the network's family, tweeting, "Welcome to the circus dude!"

"It's been a huge year for Pharrell, with recognition for his contribution in the world of music - the Despicable Me franchise soundtracks, his Oscar-nominated song 'Happy' and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Daft Punk on the breakout dance hit 'Get Lucky.' His dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family," NBC boss Paul Telegdy said in a statement.

Telegdy added: "He has already made a considerable impact as a mentor, drawing on an impressive track record as both a producer and performer. It is a perfect fit for The Voice as we evolve and reach for new heights with this franchise. It feels like we are welcoming an existing family member home."

Williams will be a full-time coach, training his own team of hopefuls. Williams has appeared on the show before as Team Usher's mentor as a season four battle rounds mentor.

The singer will replace current judge Cee Lo Green, who during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," announced that he was not returning to the show for a new season.

"I'm not coming back at all," Green confirmed. "I just don't want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I'm saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven't released an album in four years. I'm almost done with my album."

There have been several rumors that coach Christina Aguilera, who is expecting her second child, could also be replaced for the seventh season. According to E! News, the rest of the judges will be announced at a later date.
