There's sad news for Cee Lo Green fans; the "F*ck you" singer will not be returning as a coach on "The Voice" ABC News reported.
During an interview Wednesday on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the singer told the talk show host that he would not be returning for season six of the NBC singing competition series. Green served as a mentor season one through three and season five.
"I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year," the 39-year-old said. "But yeah, I'm going to miss 'The Voice,' too. I'm not coming back, guys."
A surprised Degeneres then asked, "Oh, you're not coming back at all?"
"I'm not coming back at all," Green confirmed. "I just don't want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I'm saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven't released an album in four years. I'm almost done with my album."
In addition to a new album, Green, a five time Grammy award winner, is preparing to go on tour with Lionel Richie. The tour is set to kickoff on May 29.
Instead of Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will be joined by Shakira and Usher for season six. Original coach Christina Aguilera will also be taking a leave this season to reportedly work on her music.
"Cee Lo Green has been an instrumental part of the success of 'The Voice' and we deeply appreciate all his contributions," Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC, said in a statement, according to People. "We're looking forward to working with him on other upcoming projects that will tap into both his musical and entertainment expertise."
"The Voice" season six is scheduled to kick off Feb. 24.
