Reese’s Christmas: Holiday Peanut Butter Trees Look Like ‘Poop’ In Latest Season Controversy After Starbucks’ Red Cups

A couple of weeks back, thousands of people in the United States signed a petition to boycott Starbucks over their new design of holiday Red Cups, after the company took out the winter-themed decorations - now, in the latest controversy in the season of presents and joy, Reese's Christmas tree-shaped chocolates have been reported as looking like a very particular body excretion.

The Reese's Christmas trees have been around for quite a while, as the usually cup-shaped delicious chocolates with peanut butter dress up for the holidays for a couple of months to look like Christmas trees, but this year, something went wrong with the design, with people taking to social media to say their chocolate is shaped like a "turd."

This year's Reese's Christmas trees apparently went through a redesign as well, and according to CNN, many have taken to social media to complain about the new "poop-shaped" chocolates, with the company apologizing "one tweet at a time" about the mishap.

The Huffington Post received an e-mail from a Hershey's rep (Reese's parent company) regarding the new Reese's Christmas tree controversy, explaining that it was hard to give the chocolates a particular shape due to their inner peanut butter, and that the season versions of the cups usually have a higher amount of peanut butter.

"It's important to remember that these products are not solid chocolate made in molds, which would have a more distinct shape," the rep said in an e-mail, when asked about the Reese's Christmas controversy. "They are soft peanut butter centers that are enrobed in chocolate, a process which by its nature creates a less distinct shape."

As Fox News reports, the Christmas treats, which look "more fecal than festive," don't mark the first time the company has received criticism over the shape of their famous candy, as consumers have also taken to social media to complain about their fall "pumpkin-shaped" chocolates.

Last Halloween, fast food giant Burger King made similar headlines upon releasing the U.S. version of their black burgers, as consumers said that, after eating them, they defecated in a strange color - which prompted a very unusual costume.

In any case, the Reese's Christmas treats are still available, though whether people will still wish to consume them is altogether different.
