Five varieties of Kettle Chips have been taken off the shelves following the company's voluntary recall over worries that they may contain pieces of plastic that look like chips.
Kettle Foods Ltd said in a statement that the problem affected "a very limited number of bags" of Kettle Chips products, all of which had a best before date of May 28, 2016.
"As a precautionary measure, customers are being asked not to eat the product and to contact Kettle Foods for a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers in advance for their cooperation," a spokesperson for the company said.
According to the company's website, "Customer satisfaction is of paramount importance to Kettle Chips and we take any issue concerning our product very seriously. We pride ourselves on outstanding quality and are currently investigating the situation internally."
"The plastic pieces look similar to the crisps themselves and are about the size of a 10p piece. We ask customers not to eat the crisps but to dispose of them and return the empty packaging to us at - Kettle Foods Ltd, Barnard Road, Norwich NR5 9JP," they also added.
Originally founded in Salem, Oregon, USA, the now UK-based company employs 400 people at its factory. They chose Norfolk as their home base to be as close as possible to most of their potato growers.

- Kettle Chips Lightly Salted 150g - sold through Asda Stores only
- Kettle Chips Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar 40g
- Kettle Chips Mature Cheddar & Red Onion 40g
- Kettle Chips Lightly Salted Multipack (5 x 30g)
- Kettle Chips Lightly Salted 30g - only available as a complimentary product and available only on certain trains
