Everyone knows turmeric has plenty of benefits, but many may be unaware of just how good this golden spice is for athletes. A sports expert claimed that this works like a miracle spice for those who love to be active.

Turmeric Beneficial for Athletes

Turmeric has many plant-based substances linked to several health benefits. Curcuminoids, for example, are associated with a whole host of health-promoting benefits.

Curcumin, in particular, is widely praised for its anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and antioxidant properties. It is described as one of the most potent, anti-inflammatory agents out there. The fact that it is naturally occurring indeed makes it godsent.

But if anyone can benefit from turmeric because of these properties, athletes can certainly rejoice even more, as claimed by Men's Journal

Post-workout, inflammation can naturally increase in the body of an athlete (or anyone who hit the gym hard!) as a form of healing measure. While inflammation in this case is just normal, excessive inflammation must be avoided.

Inflammation is a body's response to stress, including physical stress such as strains or over-worked muscles, which is quite common among athletes. Inflammation also occurs because of food allergies and experiencing great emotional stress.

Excess inflammation can disrupt the healthy cellular processes of a person, such as his or her metabolic function. It can also ruin particular cellular structures, such as the arteries. That can be quite fatal and scary.

How Best to Consume Turmeric for Optimal Benefits

By consuming a healthy spice like turmeric, athletes -- especially if they say goodbye to smoking and eating greasy, fatty foods -- can see how quickly they recover from heavy movements. Turmeric can boost recovery and overall well-being by lowering inflammation.

One issue with curcumin is that it cannot be absorbed quickly or very well in the gut. Athletes who want the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric can look into several methods that can aid absorption.

One of these is to pair turmeric with piperine. If not, it is also better to combine it with fats.

The best method, though, for optimal absorption is to just take supplements.

Athletes wanting the key to long-term anti-inflammation should take turmeric supplements.

This is probably why supermodels such as Gisele Bündchen And Jourdan Dunn swear by turmeric. Some people will not consider these ladies athletes, but the amount of workout they do to maintain their shape is probably insane.

According to Cosmopolitan, the former Victoria Secret supermodel, Gisele Bündchen, normally starts her day with a warm cup of water and lemon followed by a homemade green juice that contains a healthy dose of turmeric. Dunn, on the other hand, revealed turmeric is exactly the reason why she has a coveted glow and a fantastic shape.
