Papa John’s CEO At Funeral Of Ruthlessly Killed Employee At Late Shift In Pizza Store

Papa John's CEO At Funeral - John Schnatter, the founder and CEO of Papa John's, attended a funeral held in commemoration of Gordon Schaffer's recent passing on Sat.

Schaffer was an employee at Papa John's and only 22 years old. He was working the late night shift on Oct. 20, when two robbers entered the store in Tennessee.

They ordered Schaffer to empty the register. The young man did and one of the robbers turned around and left with the money. The other one, without any apparent motive, shot Schaffer, the Daily Mail noted.

The paramedics arrived at Papa John's and took Schaffer in the ambulance. In the track to the hospital, Schaffer died.

This Sat. a funeral was organized in Spring Hill and a large quantity of Papa John's crew attended to provide support. Among them was John Schnatter, Papa John's CEO and founder.

"We never once imagined that this would touch anyone high up in the Papa John's corporate office, let alone, John Schnatter. He was visibly distraught when speaking to my family about the tragic loss of my brother."

"It was also apparent he didn't come just to pay lip service," Schaffer's sister, Devan Cronin, shared in Facebook and ABC 7 reported.

It was also stated that Papa John's CEO didn't just attend the funeral, but also paid for the expenses of the same, and all the medical costs that Schaffer was provided before being murdered.

As for Darius A. Fitzpatrick, the 17 year-old that killed Schaffer, he was arrested on Wednesday and prosecutors are trying to process his charges as an adult and out of the juvenile court.

Schaffer was planning on moving to Seattle and he was working at Papa John's to raise money. His family has achieved getting $9,000 in GoFundMe in order to travel to Washington and scatter his ashes.

If the family didn't raise the money, it wouldn't be surprising if Papa John's CEO would help along in that sense as well.
