Spike Lee, Ferguson - Several celebrities have stepped up on their social accounts and showed their support for the Ferguson protests against the jury decision of not indicting Darren Wilson. Among them was Spike Lee.
Most people in Ferguson and nationwide were expecting the St. Louis County grand jury to make a decision whether to indict Darren Wilson or not.
Wilson was the police officer who shot Michael Brown. Apparently, Brown got Wilson's vehicle and tried to take out his gun. Thus, the discussion was whether the officer acted on self-defense or if he should be blamed and charged for the death.
Finally, on Sunday, a statement got released from Wilson's attorneys stating that the police officer wouldn't be indicted. From that point, a lot of people, and among them celebrities, had a say on the matter.
Spike Lee, the acclaimed director if "Malcolm X," "Girl 6," and "Oldboy," among others, shared on his Instagram an artistic image of Michael Brown that says: "Truth, just-us & the American way. We are Michael Brown."
Attached to that, is an address to a memorial that Spike Lee seemingly organized or at least, shared. He refers in the message to what most people have been referring to: they find injustice in the grand decision of the jury.
As a matter of fact, Spike Lee moves among the subjects of injustice in most of his movies. It's something he's showed interest in exploring repeatedly.
This message, which is clear even if it's not explained, brought different arguments to the director's account. There are two sides, one agreeing on the controversial message that Spike Lee shared on the Ferguson case, others stating that it was a fair decision from the jury.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that," was the quote originally by Martin Luther King, Jr. which Shonda Rhimes reproduced in her Twitter account.
The Producer's been another big supporter of the protests, along with Spike Lee and several others, stepping up against the Ferguson case and the seemingly final decision on the matter.
