Are Fish And Chips Origins In Venice, Not United Kingdom?

For years on end, the fish and chips origins have been assumed as being in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, as it's one of the country's most popular meals and has been for the longest time - however, there have been new suggestions that it actually originated from Italy.

For the British, the fish and chips origins are a matter of pride, as the deep fried dish is considered a long-standing tradition in the region, particularly in England, but now the whole thing has become the subject of controversy for the first time ever after it has emerged that there are Italian historians claiming that the Mediterranean country was the one who invented the takeaway dish.

As a part of a meal plan that's meant to introduce children to other European foods, youngsters in Rome are being showed a number of dishes, from the British classic to goulash, croque-monsieur and even hot dogs - up to 145,000 children have already tried these dishes, but it seems like when they're showed pamphlets explaining fish and chips' origins, they're told that they originally come from Italy.

According to The Daily Mail, the new claim regarding the fish and chips origins comes from Roman civic chefs, as they have recently added the traditional British meal to their schools' menus ... while claiming the combination came to England from Italy.

Gloucester Citizen reports that there are children in Italy now being taught that fish and chips' origins actually come from Venetian immigrants to England, as their teachers reference Charles Dickens' classic novel "Oliver Twist" to make their point across.

UK news outlet The Independent spoke to Andrew Crook, the treasurer of the British National Federation of Fish Fryers, about the new story about the history of the meal, and he stated that it was the first time he ever heard of an Italian link to the classic dish, which has been often said as having been first served in 1860 in either London or near Manchester.

It's only a matter of time until true fish and chips origins become clear.
