'Mario Kart: Fury Road' is the Perfect Mad Max Mash-up You've Always Wanted [VIDEO]

After years of delay, 'Mad Max: Fury Road' was finally released on May 15. It was an instant hit, with netizens raving about George Miller's latest post-apocalyptic masterpiece. The non-stop action and extended car chases featuring Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hault became instant cinematic icons.

With all this success, it was only a matter of time before fan-made parodies and mash-ups started emerging on the internet. YouTube user sundbergkr has just released a fantastic Fury Road version of Mad Max, using the film's official teaser.

'Mario Kart: Fury Road' is a brilliant mash-up that effectively places invincibility stars and mystery boxes in front of the War Boys' vehicles. It transforms the post-apocalyptic desert into a sand-filled racetrack with Hardy as Mario, Theron as Princess Peach and Hoult as Koopa Troopa.

The clip also makes use of the sound effects from the game, so when Peach asks for her savior's name, the obvious answer is, 'It's ah-me, Mario!"

'Mario Kart' was created by Nintendo as a spin-off game from the highly successful Super Mario series. The go kart racing game is available in several consoles and also features characters like Luigi, Toad, Yoshi and Donkey Kong. Since the release of 'Super Mario Kart' in 1992, there have been seven other popular video games. 'Mario Kart 8' was released in May 2014 and has sold over five million copies worldwide.

'Mad Max: Fury Road' also stars Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whitely as the Splendid Angharad and Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keogh as Capable. Zoë Kravitz, daughter of rock star Lenny Kravitz, stars as Toast the Knowing. Australian supermodel Abbey Lee played The Dag.

The movie has received positive reviews since its release on May 15. Miller has recently confirmed that there will be more Mad Max films, with the first sequel to be titled 'Mad Max: The Wastelands.'
