Burger King Menu Adds SPICY Chicken Fries – And Foodies Have One Direction’s Liam Payne To Thank [PHOTO]

While the biggest fast food chain in the world, McDonald's, is going through a major crisis that's endangering its position after months of poor sales, the Burger King menu seems to have done everything right in the past year or so - and now, thanks to one boy band's request, they're also adding spice to their lives!

After the return of old-time favorite item chicken fries, Burger King menu is now also bringing back the spicy version of this popular item (the Fiery Chicken Fries), and at a recent event, the fast food chain announced the whole thing was inspired by One Direction and Twitter.

According to Billboard, the revelation of One Direction's relation to the Burger King menu item came from Eric Hirschhorn, the chief marketing officer for the company's North American region, who told the story of how chicken fries were brought back after a three-year absence, when there was a spike after one of the members of the band, Liam Payne, mentioned the spicy version in a tweet.

E! Online reports that the revelation was made during an event this week that was meant to hype up the release of these spicy chicken fries, as the company told the story of how this old-time favorite came back to the Burger King menu, as it seems Directioners everywhere suddenly became obsessed with this fried chicken item that would bring them one step closer to their favorite boy band in the entire world - and this was even before Zayn Malik quit.

In fact, the idea to bring back the chicken fries altogether to the Burger King menu actually came from another pop culture source, namely BuzzFeed, when the popular website published a list called "35 Foods From Your Childhood That Are Extinct Now" that featured the chicken fries alongside other favorites like Surge, peeking online interest over the possible return of this item.

In any case, drop by one of the restaurants to get a taste of the new spicy chicken fries in the Burger King menu!
