'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Unveils New Teaser

For fans of BioWare's Mass Effect games, November 7 is known as 'N7' day - a special time to celebrate the critically acclaimed franchise's rich universe and expansive lore. For this year's edition, BioWare and Electronic Arts gave their fanbase a special treat in the form of a teaser trailer for the next chapter in the series, Mass Effect: Andromeda.

The 90 second video clip doesn't feature any gameplay footage, but it does hold a few key pieces of information about the future of the series.

The trailer begins with an 'Interstellar-esque' montage of mankind's achievements in outer space. We see iconic images of rockets taking flight and Neil Armstrong walking on the moon all set to some stirring music and grand proclamations delivered by voice actress Jennifer Hale; who series veterans will know as the voice of the female Commander Shepherd.

As the video progresses, we learn the Shepherd is addressing a group of space travelers who are presumably headed toward the Andromeda Galaxy - the setting of the next game. The clip ends with an image of a giant spacecraft travelling in deep space.

The message of the trailer is clear, we're saying goodbye to Shepherd and the universe of the original trilogy and heading off to an entirely new star system.

Over on the Playstation blog, BioWare community manager David Hulegaard shared a poignant message recalling all the good times found in the original trilogy.

'I remember the tingles I felt after becoming the first human Spectre. I remember the excitement of pursuing a romantic endeavor with Liara... then Miranda... then Tali (my Shepard broke a few hearts along the way, apparently). I remember fighting the human Reaper in a state of genuine panic.' He writes.

Little else is known about the title, except that it's coming sometime during the Holiday season of 2016.
