Avocados are currently considered to be one of the super foods to boot. The tree that produces the avocado fruit is known as Persea Americana. The fruit avocado is rich in nutrients and is considered to be a source of the good kind of fat that the body needs to utilize and gain a healthy diet.

There are many types of avocados. It comes in different shapes and sizes. Avocados can can come in pear or round shape and its color can vary from green to black. Use The Hands In Choosing Avocados

When avocados are ripe their smell of the fruit is stronger. In order to tell whether the fruit is ripe, it is suggested to use the hands to feel them if the fruit is ready to be eaten or not. Ripe avocados are almost entirely black and are soft when you touch them.

When Buying In Bulk Buy A Mix of Ripe and Unripe Avocados

When buying avocados, it is important that you consider how much you are going to consume and when you are going to consume them. Buying avocados in bulk can be tempting since it will usually be offered at a lower price but it not recommended. It is always wise to buy some ripe ones and hard unripe ones if you wish to have them as a staple part of your diet. You can keep the avocados over a week or two consuming one or two ripe avocados a day to have a healthy diet.

Never Refrigerate Avocados

Avocados are best consumed when they are in the state of just the right ripeness. It is in this state that avocados are best enjoyed and are delicious. Once the avocado becomes mushy never put them in the refrigerator. This will make the avocado bitter and the color darkens. However if you want to speed up the ripening process of the fruit, it is best to place the avocados in a paper bag wrapped in a newspaper and put in with it a banana. This is best done the night before and if you want to have them for brunch.
