FEAST Miami to Include Pop-Up Vegan Dinner: Fundraising Campaign Calls On All Aspiring Foodies

With the constant reduction in the temperature and the Restaurant Weeks ending all over the country, Miami is all set to start its next FEAST for all food enthusiasts.

FEAST Miami, which is the city's vegan - pop-up dinner series will kick off on Sunday, February 21 at Villain Theater at MADE at the Citadel.

The dinner is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and requires a minimum donation of $40 per person. Food enthusiastic can buy the tickets for the feast online at a site named Brown Paper Tickets.

To participate in the awesome feast, diners need to pay a low fee to try out the plant - based meal, in addition, to hearing presentations from the artist applicants and vote for their favorite artists. The winner is provided with a grant to support his or her idea.

"Artists and small arts organizations apply to our grant, a rotating committee made up of art professionals determines the finalists, and then the attendees vote on their favorite project on the day of the event," co-founder Susan Caraballo explains. "The event brings people together to learn about innovative arts projects that impact that community while enjoying a healthy meal."

The vegan factor, which is perhaps the key attraction of this year's FEAST Miami has been spearheaded by FEAST Cofound and chef of Meals That Heal, Loren Pulitzer along with Simply Sharon's Cookies.

The FEAST concept was started back in 2013 after receiving $40,000 grant from the Knight Foundation. Since then the FEAST has held five dinners and brunches and funded several projects.

Marking its third year, the project is going strong. "We work with an amazing project manager, Amanda Finuccio, who is the point person for the applicants and the coordinator of the event logistics," Carabello says to Miami New Times. "We also have an advisory committee that assists us in the planning and promoting. We have a pre-FEAST meeting that we discuss what we need from them. Since we are at our sixth event together, we have a pretty good rhythm down."
